Giant participatory mandalas

A fun and educational activity

David Balade proposes the creation of a giant participatory Celtic mandala on the ground: after having outlined the global structure, the artist guides the participants in the ornamentation of the mandala, and invites them to discover gradually the harmonic principles of the whole design. Then he usually explains the symbol of the mandala.
Suitable for children or adults, for different groups, classes, or associations, this playful and educational activity appears to be as an opportunity to create a large work of art together. It is also a way to communicate differently between the members of a group, or to celebrate a special event.

These mandalas can be made either with chalk (learn more +)

or with various natural materials, like plants and minerals (learn more +)

Mandala with chalk

For these chalk mandalas, which can be made up to 6 meters in diameter, a dry, rain protected place and a clean, regular, paved or cemented surface will be required. During one day, for example, a 3-meter mandala can be achieved with a group of 30 people.

Depending on the size requested, the time allowed, and the number of participants, a proposal adapted to your needs and a quotation will be prepared.

Mandala with other materials

For these outdoor mandalas, any flat and regular surface – grass, lawn, clay court – may be suitable. Depending on the season, the collecting of the mandala filling materials will have to be prepared beforehand by the group. During one day, for example, a 3-meter mandala can be realized by a group of 20 people, the collecting of materials not being included.

Depending on the size requested, the time allowed, and the number of participants, a proposal adapted to your needs and a quotation will be prepared.
